Albert Clark was an animal painter who specialized in painting racehorses. He learned to paint from his father, James Clark who also painted animals and horses. His son, Frederick Albert Clark also went on to become a painter.
Albert Clark painted cattle, sheep and other farm animals, but was often commissioned to paint famous racehorses and their riders in London. He defined himself as a “naïve animal artist”. Clark went deaf when he was 57 but continued to paint until his death at 85.
