Kodner Gallery is proud to present Currents – a selection of works by contemporary artists practicing in St. Louis available for purchase.
When Martin Kodner established Kodner Gallery over 60 years ago, he provided access to fine art that was unavailable anywhere else. He cultivated a collection with international appeal - from French Impressionists to German Abstractionists.
But some of the most coveted works at Kodner Gallery came from his generation of contemporary St. Louis artists.
Over time, these artists – Ernest Trova, Max Beckmann, Chiura Obata, Bessie Lowenhaupt, and Oscar Berninghaus – gained prominence as foundational members of prominent artistic schools and movements.
What Martin had was an eye and integrity. For over three generations, works from Kodner Gallery have entered private and public collections around the world.
Currents modernizes the legacy upon which the gallery was built. By providing a commercial platform for emerging artists in St. Louis, Kodner Gallery connects contemporary art with potential collectors. As Kodner Gallery and our clients join to support the current generation, we invest in the future of the artistic community – together.
