A FIRST LOOK BEFORE OUR NOVEMBER EXHIBITION, WITH MORE MISSOURI MASTERS TO COME. ALL WORKS AVAILABLE NOW BY APPOINTMENT.
Forty-nine lithographs and an original drawing span Thomas Hart Benton's entire career as a printmaker: from Coming 'Round the Mountain of 1931, the first of his folk-song subjects, to Youth Music of 1974, the last print in Creekmore Fath's catalogue raisonné. Highlights include the three great Missouri legends of 1936 (Huck Finn, Jesse James and Frankie and Johnny, each in an edition of 100), Waiting for the Revolution in an edition of only ten, and an impression of Coming 'Round the Mountain inscribed by the artist. They are joined by hand-colored engravings after George Caleb Bingham, two lithographs by Joseph Paul Vorst, including his portrait of the Benton family at home, and John Steuart Curry's The Missed Leap.
Every work may be seen at the gallery by appointment. Click any image for full details and to inquire.
